75 Holes Of Golf!

Pat, Andrew and I embarked on an amazing journey on Monday.

Hog Neck Golf Course allows it's financially challenged golf enthusiasts a cheap alternative to the typical golf outing. We partook... in a big way.

On Monday morning my alarm sounded at 6:00, and I didn't hit snooze like I have grown accustomed to. Instead I strolled into the shower to wake myself up, brushed my teef, grabbed my golf bag and made my way to our meeting place.

When there, I knocked on the door and Andrew was eating a bowl of cereal. He let me in and as I opened the door, Pat's car rounded the corner and parked. Andrew grabbed the cooler and his golf bag and we met Pat. We all piled into the Honda and took off at roughly 6:30am.

Our drive to the course was uneventful, but once at the course we were met only by an empty parking lot and a putting greenskeeper. He told us that someone should be here shortly to let us start and we could practice on the chipping green. No problem. That gave us time to determine betting-
$1 per round to the winner, tie carries over to next round.
$5 to person with the best score for 1 round.
$5 to the person with the best overall score.

Pat and I chunked a few balls around and Andrew went to the car for his golf shoes. About 5 minutes later we saw movement and made our way back to the pro shop. There was movement, but it was the kind of movement of a crotchety golf course worker who found it more important to set up shop than to open it and let us begin our round. Eventually the second Assistant Pro Matt showed up and let us in.

Matt is an old acquaintance who has been working at the club for many years now. He asked us where we wanted to play, and we said (or thought) in unison "Executive Course Unlimited...With A Cart!" He took our money and told us that there was a Senior Round scheduled at 7:30, and that we would have to probably wait until 10 or so for our second round.

Side note for anyone not familiar with Hog Neck GC... there are two courses, one is the Executive (9 holes...easy Par 32) and the other is the Championship Course (18 holes...hard Par 36 (per 9)).

I asked Matt, "Would it be crazy talk to maybe play the front 9 of the other course while the Seniors are playing?" to which he didn't reply with a definite answer.

So we thanked him, and took off never telling him how we were going to play as long as the sun would allow.

The first Round was relatively uneventful, just three dudes getting their swang down. On the 8th Pat suggested that we go back and play 7 and 8 again, because the seniors were way behind us, it was 2 more holes we could get in, and no one was looking. We did, nice work Pat (otherwise we would have only played 73, and that is a stupid number).

Scores After First 9 (not including the extra 2 holes)

Then, god shined a light down on us in the form of Pat somehow coercing Matt into letting us play the Championship Course.

Like Champions we moved to the real course for our next 9
Pat- 49 Andrew- 52 Pete- 47

Then, we went back to the Executive, and Matt was teaching an eight-some of older ladies, and told us we could go through. to which we replied that we would start on hole #2. One of the ladies yelled "Hey Andrew" to Andrew as we drove by to the second hole.

The second round was a mix of the 8 holes we played, plus the 2 we added on the first round.
Pat- 46 Andrew- 45 Pete- 44

Then we stopped and Pat had a chili, Andrew and I grabbed a sandwich out of the car and we started again on the 4th round.
Pat- 38 Andrew- 46 Pete- 39

Straight to the 5th.
Pat- 40 Andrew- 38 Pete- 38

Then we stopped for chili and I had a chili dog. Then to the 6th ($2 carryover round!).
Pat- 48 Andrew- 42 Pete- 34

Then I stopped again for a chili dog (those things are so good), and Pat got some crackers, and onto the 7th.
Pat- 41 Andrew- 39 Pete- 38

Then the 8th.

At the second hole Pat was confronted by a ranger who accusatorally questioned "You can be honest, I won't kick you off, but you guys just came off of the other course to play an extra round, right" To which Pat replied "We have been here since 7:00 this morning, and we paid for unlimited." It was about 6:45pm at that point. Confused, he told Pat to make sure the carts were in by 8:30. Sweet! 2 more rounds.
Pat- 42 Andrew- 39 Pete- 49

When rounding the corner to start the next round at approximately 7:45 we ran into the ranger again. My first instinct was to look at my score card and try not to notice him, but when I noticed how ridiculous that course of action was, I looked up and said, "We have to be in by 8:30 right?", and he grumbled, "You can play 1 and 2"

good work on the graphs pete; only one correction, the worst score of the day was you with a 10 on the 6th hole not the 7th hole.

75 is good, but I would be really impressed if you guys actually made it to your target of 90. I'm just saying.
